A word about our Teachers
Tina Carter is founder and lead tutor for AIRHEDZ. She teaches both beginners and established aerialists and is particularly interested in aerial choreography.
Tina set up and ran Expressive Feat Productions from 1999 to 2008; when she decided to close the company in order to develop her practice as a teacher and researcher. She holds an MA: Practice as Research from the University of Kent and has completed her MPhil at Royal Holloway University that means she is now commencing her PhD stage of research into Aerial Choreography. She has toured with classic and contemporary circus companies including Zippos Circus, Swamp Circus and BrightFX; she teaches regularly at East 15 Acting School and the University of Kent; and works closely with other companies such as Graeae, Actors of Dionysus and CirqueNova.
Sarah Walker Down teaches beginners and experienced aerialists, taking a keen interest in driving the creative development of aerialists.
Sarah trained as a contemporary dancer before joining the Millennium Dome show where she developed her skills in aerial and stilt walking. She works extensively with Art Start community project in London and also offers stilt-walking walkabout characters for all nature of events.
Nikki Jeffries teaches on our touring workshops and looks after all our rigging needs for AIRHEDZ.
Trained initially in 3DD design Nikki ran away to become an aerialist with Zippos Academy of Circus Arts. Having performed in a number of classic and contemporary shows she now freelances as a rigger and aerial technician for companies such as Fidget Feet, Upswing, and the Generating Company.
Steve Taylor teaches on our touring workshops specialising in tightrope and object manipulation.
Trained at the prestigious Centre National des Arts du Cirque in Chalons after graduating from Zippos Academy of Circus Arts Steve toured with classic and contemporary shows before hanging up his clown shoes to concentrate on making. He is now a well established bespoke maker of theatre, circus and domestic items. Check his creations Four Fish Designs.
Andy Evans teaches on our touring workshops. Trained initially as an architect he now works extensively with Creative Partnerships delivering creative and challenging projects in schools. He started training in aerial with Tina Carter back in the late 1990s and in that time has performed on a number of Expressive Feat Productions projects.
Kate March teaches on our touring workshops. She too has trained with Tina Carter since the late 1990s and helps deliver our touring workshops. Maintaining her love of aerial and circus on a predominantly hobby basis, she too has performed as a volunteer on a number of local projects.
